Skimming is the application of a thin topcoat of finishing plaster to walls or ceilings. It is one of the most common plastering requests we handle, and for good reason — a properly applied skim coat turns uneven, worn or patched surfaces into a smooth, flat finish that is ready to paint or paper once fully dry.
Over time, older properties develop uneven surfaces, wallpaper scars and minor cracks. Rather than removing plaster back to brickwork, a re-skim is often the cleanest way to refresh a room during redecoration or renovation.
